User HelpUnderstanding gamesDnP Playoff Pool is based on Sports Pool, a Web application that allows players to participate in predicting winners of sports games. Each set of games is called a "Pool". A Pool is usually composed of all games in a single sport in a single season. For example, the NFL, NBA or MLB seasons might each be represented by a Pool. The games in a single Pool are divided into "Weeks", which enable you to see a small subset of all games in the Pool. The NFL regular season, for example, has 248 games, but only 15 games are played each week. Players choose who they think will win each game, and point(s) are scored for each correct choice (or pick). Playing against the spreadSome Pools will be listed as "against the spread". When you see this, you know that picking a winner in those games requires taking into account the spread. When viewing the list of games, you will notice a spread number listed in the far right column. This is a number that will be added (or subtracted, if negative) from the visiting 's score. The winner is calculated after the visiting 's score has been adjusted. In Pool's listed as against the spread, the winner of a game may not be the with the most real points. Therefore, you must make your choice of winner by calculating whether the visiting will have the most points after that 's score is adjusted by the spread. Pool's that are not against the spread ("straight up") will have the winner determined by number of real points scored in the game. Examples:
TiesYour game administrator will determine whether games that end in a tie count as a point. Closing gamesYou must make picks for each game before that game begins play. Whenever you are in the system viewing picks, you will see the day and time that week of play closes. After that time, you will no longer be able to change your picks. (You can always view picks for any week.) If you have JavaScript enabled in your browser, this time will be your local time. If not, you will see a time in Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) plus/minus an adjustment. Rules & RegulationsAfter a Player has registered in accordance with these Rules, the Player may participate in the Pool by submitting predictions ("Picks") as to which will emerge as the winner of each . The objective of the Pool is to accumulate the most points by correctly selecting the "winning " for each match-up during the entire Pool period. Each Pool consists of several . A Player must make their Picks online for each prior to the start of the by following the instructions on the Website. A Player is not required to partipate in every or in order to qualify to win, though points acquired in all are used to determine the overall winner. Point SummaryPoints are awarded at the end of each . If a Player correctly guesses the winner of each , that Player earns point(s). Additionally, if the Player also guesses the correct number of required to win the , that player earns point(s). You must guess the winner to also earn the points for guessing the correct number of . TiebreakIf more than one Player has the highest total score at the end of the Pool period, there is a tie and thus one (1) Tiebreaker question will need to be answered correctly to determine the overall winner. Players may submit, but are not required to submit, an answer to the Tiebreaker question. If no answer to the Tiebreaker question is submitted for an Entry, the Entry is eliminated from consideration as the overall winner in the event of a tie. No Tiebreaker point is awarded unless you are tied for overall winner prior to the Tiebreaker question. For the Tiebreaker question the Player should guess the total number of by both for the final game of the . |
